For a couple decades, New York State funded two very nice Visitor Interpretive Centers in the Adirondack Park (one in Newcomb and one in Paul Smiths). The state has since given them up for economic reasons. Paul Smith’s College is now very ably managing the one on their property and it’s now known simply as The VIC. It’s long been a favorite of ours and late October is especially nice with the cooler weather, absent biting insects, and the extraordinary show put on by the Tamaracks (Larches) in their brilliant yellow and orange colors.
These photos were shot during a brief afternoon visit in late October along the Heron Marsh Trail.
