Well this is it: we’ve witnessed the official beginning of Winter as cars start running off the road onto our property. This morning’s was the first but certainly won’t be the last. If I recall, we had four cars run off our road last Winter. Fortunately, so far no injuries but that luck will run out eventually. In the Spring we’ll do rut repair assessment after the Winter adventures.

Somehow in my 19 years in the Southern Tier I never ended up in a snow covered ditch (thankfully). Living in Florida now, I’ve determined you need no reason to end up in a ditch …. folks just do it. Maybe it’s more fun than we realize ? 😉

I suspect it’s not all that much fun running into a ditch. But it probably takes a certain devil-may-care attitude about driving on snowy roads. That or a bit of overconfidence in one’s ability to drive in blizzards while multitasking with txt messages or makeup application. Like you, I’ve never indulged in the thrill even after all these endless winter opportunities. There’s always a first time I suppose.
